Jacir technical choice: real closed-circuit cooling tower, glycol-free, with stainless steel heat exchanger, totally removable and cleanable.
Definition: "equipment where the process liquid flows through a heat exchanger, cooled by water in direct contact with air. The exchanger is either inside the tower, or attached to the outside of the cooling tower".
Jacir has selected the second option, as it combines the very high performance of the packing of the cooling tower, with the very high performance of a plate heat exchanger and with the hygiene that is mandatory for the circuit: full access and removability.
The fluid to be cooled flows through the primary circuit of a stainless steel plate heat exchanger. The water from the secondary circuit flows from the heat exchanger, through pipes, to the top of the cooling tower. This water is distributed and dispersed on the packing by sprayers. The air is forced by the fan from the bottom to the top of the cooling tower. During the pass, it has been warmed up and saturated in water through the packing. Because of the superficial tension created by the exchange surface, the water flows uniformly along the whole height of the so-extended surface. Cooled by the forced air, the water free falls to the sloped basin located at the bottom of the tower. The total water flow is then filtered and sent to the heat exchanger by the recirculating pump.
